Event change: Tuesday 18 June: Engineering in Challenging Environments

We are sorry to have to inform Monsterfest fans that Roger Boultbee, who was scheduled to give a talk at our event on the evening of Tuesday 18 June, has unfortunately had to withdraw.

However, every cloud has a silver lining, and we are delighted to have found a wonderful replacement. Invernessian Alan Cruden will tell us about the Inverness Marina - a little about the history of the site (did you know there has been a harbour there since before 1300?), how the plan for the Marina came about, the engineering challenges involved in creating such a significant structure in water and how they were overcome, and what impact the finished Marina has had so far on the local area.

Alan is perfectly placed to give this talk, as he is not only the founder of A. F. Cruden Associates, the consulting engineers who designed the Marina, but is also, in a personal capacity, the official Inverness Harbour Engineer.

We are extremely grateful to Alan for stepping in to save the day at such short notice, and we are sure his talk will provide a fascinating insight into an important local facility.

If you had already booked to attend the VSO event originally planned for this evening, there is no need to re-book, as we will assume you will still want to attend unless you email us to let us know otherwise.

There is no charge for attending, but as ever it will help us if you book your place(s) in advance via the Festival Programme page.

This feed was drawn from the Inverness Monster Science & Technology Festival website

As in previous years, most events are free of charge, but it does help us if you book your places in advance if you can.

And for the few events for which there is a small charge to attend, we have made the payments process much simpler this year: you can pay online at the same time you make your booking. We are really excited about this year's festival events.
